Born in 1929 in Accra, James Barnor is considered a pioneer of Ghanaian photography. James Barnor’s career covers a remarkable period in history, bridging continents and photographic genres to create a transatlantic narrative marked by his passionate interest in people and cultures. Through the medium of portraiture, Barnor’s photographs represent societies in transition: Ghana moving towards its independence from colonial rule and London becoming a cosmopolitan, multicultural metropolis during the 'swinging 60s'.

James Barnor: Ever Young is published by Autograph ABP and Clementine de la Feronniere, Paris. 176 pages, 200 images, Hardcover. English / French.

Essays by Kobena Mercer, Renée Mussai, as well as an extensive new Interview with the artist in conversation with Margaret Busby OBE and Francis Hodgson.
