Artist & curator-led exhibitions tour

Saturday 16 July, 3-4:30pm

Rivington Place

London, UK

Free event

Join artist Aida Silvestri and Autograph ABP Curator and Head of Archive Renée Mussai for a joint tour of our summer exhibitions.

This informal exhibition tour will explore the complex thematic links between the two gallery shows, beginning with an introduction to Miss Black & Beautiful, the first major presentation of photographs by the late Raphael Albert (1935-2009), and expanded discussion of Autograph ABP’s long standing curatorial research work with this unique archive, which documents the cultural performance of gendered and raced identities during the 1970s.

The second part of the tour will focus on Aida Silvestri’s Unsterile Clinic, an exhibition of newly commissioned work aiming to raise awareness of the widespread practice of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM). In conversation with Mussai, Silvestri will give personal insights into the exhibition, addressing the complex and urgent themes that emerge in her pioneering artistic practice at the intersections of health, advocacy and art.

RSVP appreciated, but not essential.
