About The Missing Chapter Collective
In 2015, Autograph ABP brought together a collective of young, aspiring cultural producers, historians and artists to create a series of multimedia projects and events in response to the 19th century photographs unearthed as part our The Missing Chapter archive research project. Using photography, film, illustration and debate the Collective interpret issues around cultural memory, representation and the archive, locating the past in their present.

About The Missing Chapter research project
The Missing Chapter is a three-year research project which will augment the photographic narratives of migration and cultural diversity in relation to Britain’s past, through unearthing previously unseen images from national archives. The Collective has responded to a portfolio of newly identified photographic portraits featuring black sitters in the UK during the 19th and early 20th century. The Missing Chapter is supported by Heritage Lottery Fund.
