In this free CPD session we will introduce secondary & FE teachers and tutors to the latest learning resources on offer to support and stimulate diversity across both the National Curriculum and informal education. The evening will begin with an introduction and demonstration of Autograph ABP’s The Missing Chapter Web App by our Curator and Head of Archive Renée Mussai, exploring the development of the app through our pioneering research to unearth the earliest photographs documenting the little known Black presence in Victorian and Edwardian Britain, as well as the interactive digital engagements for students and teachers to explore.

Following the introduction, we will break out into discussion groups facilitated by artist educator Ali Eisa, encouraging teachers and tutors to respond to the learning resources and feedback valuable opinions on the opportunities and challenges to implementing these resources in the classroom, and how they might help inspire diversity within the National Curriculum.

  • All attendees will receive a free copy of Autograph ABP’s Archive Learning Resource, comprised of over 40 image reproductions, a series of posters, teaching booklets, worksheets and a contextualised timeline.
  • Attendees will alsoreceive a free copy of our latest visual resource Exhibition in a Box a specially designed mobile archive exhibition tool kit which features high quality reproductions of rare 19th century photographs, allowing teachers and tutors to recreate their own version of Autograph ABP’s critically acclaimed exhibition Black Chronicles with students in the classroom. The Exhibition In a Box can be used as a pop-up display, or learning tool in class rooms in conjunction with the web app.
