Three Rotimi Fani-Kayode prints loaned from the Archive

September 19 - December 5, 2013

Pitzer Art Galleries

Claremont, California, USA

Free exhibition

Three large-scale prints by Rotimi Fani-Kayode have been loaned from the Autograph ABP Archive to the forthcoming exhibition Glyphs: Acts of Inscription.

Glyphs: Acts of Inscription presents the work of ten international artists from Africa, Europe and the United States. The exhibition builds on the premise that identities are constituted through acts of inscription, real or imagined - into history, popular iconographies and artistic canons - and probes the consequences of such acts on the poetic and political dimensions of representation, difference and visibility.

Every Moment Counts from the series Ecstatic Antibodies, Nothing To Lose XII from Bodies of Experiences, and Grapes - all three taken in 1989 shortly before the artist’s untimely death, will be on display alongside a range of photography, moving image and mixed media installation works by internationally celebrated artists.

About the Archive & Research Centre

Autograph ABP's Archive & Research Centre was established to address a gap in the visual representation of Britain's cultural history and its diverse communities.

Through preserving and mining photographic archives and working with artists internationally, we encourage progressive curatorial research in order to produce new narratives. Over the years, we have built a unique collection that, through photography, multimedia and writing, critically exploires global politics of migration, diaspora and difference.
